Official Charts Analysis: Les Mis soundtrack is 2013′s biggest-selling LP so far

ALBUMS There are seven debuts in the Top 40 – the highest for 10 weeks – but none of them can match the motion picture cast recording of Les Miserables, which rebounds 2-1 on sales of 35,834 copies. Trailing the 50 Cent/Eminem/Adam Levine collaboration My Life , and under threat from Justin Timberlake/Jay-Z collaboration Suit & Tie on all of the midweek sales flashes, Scream & Shout managed to reassert itself to spend a second week in pole position for Will.Iam feat.

SINGLES The race for the coveted Christmas number one is over – and as widely anticipated, The Justice Collective’s recording of He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother tops the list, dethroning James Arthur’s Impossible. Released to commemorate the 1989 Hillsborough disaster, which saw 96 Liverpool fans lose their lives at Sheffield Wednesday’s football ground, the track benefits Liverpool Charity & Voluntary Services, and is symbolic of the continuing campaign for justice waged by victims’ families. As such, it attracted a great deal of media attention, and includes contributions from Liverpudlians Paul McCartney, Gerry Marsden
