Absolute sets out summer plans

Absolute Radio has unveiled a live content and marketing strategy for this summer, promising its listeners, “We’ll take you there”. The Absolute Radio Live strategy will comprise exclusive interviews, live music programming and competitions, including coverage of the June 14 to 16 Isle of Wight Festival where Absolute is the official broacast partner. As part of this its presenters Pete Donaldson and Sarah Champipn will front a series of outside broadcasts from the festival site over the weekend, while Paul Weller’s set on the Friday (June 14) and Ben Howard’s on the Saturday (June 15) will go out live and uninterrupted on air.

Live Nation expands presence in Asia, forms JV with Lushington

Echo Arena welcomes 3 millionth visitor

Liverpool’s Echo Arena has welcomed its 3 millionth visitor in its 5 th birthday year. The landmark customer was Emma Haigh from Crosby Liverpool who was attending an Alicia Keys concert at the venue.

Average festival-goer now in their mid-30s – report

The average festival-goer is in their mid-30s, according to a new study by MSN which found 60 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds don’t plan on going to a festival this year due to lack of funds. To attend a festival in the UK, music fans must now expect to pay £423.01 on average for tickets, transport, food and drink and camping equipment.

EE named official tech and comms partner for Glastonbury 2013

Mobile network EE has been named as the official technology and communications partner of Glastonbury 2013. EE, the only 4G mobile network provider currently in the UK, takes over from sister brand Orange with Glasto returning this year after a fallow period in 2012. As part of its partnership, EE will install the first ever dedicated 4G network at a UK festival allowing users on site to access 4G speeds.

IMS final line-up revealed, Nile Rodgers to create IMS anthem

The final line-up for the sixth International Music Summit (IMS) in Ibiza has been revealed. The 2013 event, taking place next week between May 22-24, includes keynotes from industry luminaries Patrick Moxey (Ultra/Sony Music), Marc Geiger (William Morris Endeavour), Bob Lefsetz, Nile Rodgers, Jean Michel Jarre and Sven Vath. Performers on the bill include the likes of Fatboy Slim, Pete Tong, Maya Jane Coles and DJ Driis (Idris Elba)

Fall Out Boy and Bring Me The Horizon lead Kerrang! Award nominations

The nominations for this year’s Kerrang! Awards have been revealed with nods to Fall Out Boy, Bring Me The Horizon and Pierce The Veil. The ceremony will place on Thursday, June 13 at Troxy and will be hosted by Blink-182 front man Mark Hoppus and Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian.

Capital FM appoints new Managing Editor in series of senior promotions

In a series of management moves at Capital FM London, Robert D’Ovidio has been appointed managing editor while Mike Parker takes on the new role of deputy managing editor. D’Ovidio has been at Capital since 2009, most recently in the role of acting managing editor of the station.His new responsibilities will include the London network centre as well as Capital FM London. Mike Parker joined Global Radio in 2010, most recently in the role of Capital’s network producer

Official Charts Analysis: Daft Punk’s Get Lucky tops 300k sales

SINGLES Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger: Get Lucky got off to a brisk start for Daft Punk – but it continues to grow, adding a further 163,384 sales to its previous nine day haul of 205,632 to become their biggest selling single to date. One More Time – number two in 2000 -was the previous holder of the record, with sales to date of 302,915.  Topping the chart for the second time, Get Lucky actually increased sales by 5.26% last week, and becomes the first number one outside of December, X Factor and charity releases to sell in excess of 150,000 in consecutive weeks since Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head in September 2001. Get Lucky vaults 24-10 on the year-to-date rankings, which it seems sure to top before the end of the month
