Noisy Toys

The Noisy Toys installation is designed as a drop-in activity where people can have a go on the equipment for as long as they like with Music Scientists (in-character facilitators) on hand to help and interact with the crowd. People are drawn in by the bizarre sounds and noises in the space that constantly change as people manipulate the instruments in mesmerising experimentation.

In addition the Noisy Toys installation can be used for structured workshops, demonstrations and a unique Acrobalance performance which involves the audience using the Audio Consoles to control the performers.

The Inflatable Church

There is nothing quite like the church! The erection its self stands at 45ft high and 45ft long , a striking addition to any sky-line that when lit at night is an impressive sight.

The Church holds up to 100 people and has its own PA and lighting system. It also has a seperate space which holds the dressing parlour where the wedding party can choose from our huge selection of dresses, hats and suits for the big event!

Teas and Tarts

By day a delicious cake shop, by night a den of sultry seedy delights! An amazing transforming frontage completely changes the look of the venue as Teas and Tarts mutates into Tarts and Tease.

With two wonderful exteriors, a high class tea shop, a full programme of bizarre and wonderful cabaret acts, plus DJs and bands, this venue entertains the crowds inside and out, day and night.

The facades are beautifully painted and stencilled by Dan Johnson, and are cunningly designed to flip over for the great transformation as day turns into night.

Originally commissioned for Shangri-la at Glastonbury, and further developed for Electric Picnic, Teas and Tarts is a fantastic addition to any festival. The concept works in a range of sizes from a simple cafe/bar to a full scale venue for hundreds of people. We can programme as much or as little entertainment as you need, and are completely self-contained, requiring little more than some level ground and power.

The Snake Pit

A late night Badlands haunt which conceals secret satin dens and shadowy corners of wrongness. With dark characters who meet to make deals and play dirty and flaming exotic dancers who play mercilessly with the audience.

A key part of the Shangri-la fields at Glastonbury, the Snake Pit is the place to be seen each night. With its fantastic decor, and a programme of top cabaret and outstanding bands and DJs, the Snake Pit rocks right through to the morning.

Barnfest events

Right from the beginning, when Barnfest started out, fancy dress was always gonna be the order of the day.  The most important idea was that it be an ‘open theme’.  An open theme gave us the freedom to create elaborate props, bars and areas that enabled all Barnfesters to interact and ‘play with’ our spun-out theatrical environment.  No two Barnfests are the same.  The open theme also enabled Barnfest party goers to get creative and be who/what they wanted to be and we are amazed at the thought and effort that goes into the fantastic costumes.

The brainstorming of Barnfest ideas starts months before each event, giving the Barnfest team enough time to not only see if these ideas are physically viable, but also to build them.  With the Barnfest team consisting of carpenters, electricians, artists and other skilled hands, we haven’t come unstuck yet!

Music and live entertainment has always been integral to Barnfest and a variety of styles is a must for every event.   From live bands to samba, gypsy folk to banging DJs, there is always enough choice to tick the right boxes!

The Barnfest team has a huge amount of passion and energy for what we do.  With the number of Barnfesters growing and the fantastic feedback we get after each event, it seems we are going to doing this for many years to come!

THE DUKes BOX is a custom built audio-visual show that combines music and performance. Born from a dead 1960 B+B Tourer caravan, The DUKes BOX has arisen from the ashes like a phoenix from the flames, to become a mobile musical unit. The DUKes BOX is a fully equiped and amplified sound system complete with light show and resident musicians. The Audience is invited to choose from one of 35 popular songs, and to view a live recital of thier choice by the infamous DUKes within the BOX! Time For Tease puts on events that combine a delightful afternoon tea with a dollop of burlesque cabaret in one scrumptious package.

Zoe Fletcher and her team of waitresses and burlesque artistes embarked on this flight of fancy in June 2006 with the very first Afternoon Tease! at Volupté and since then things have gone a little crazy – but they’re loving every minute!

Time For Tease has held a few events in Brighton, hosted private parties in peoples front rooms and even brought afternoon tea & burlesque to a field in the Isle Of Wight for the crowds at Bestival.

In 2009 Time For Tease delighted the Chelsea Arts Club, they started doing a regular Afternoon Tease! at the Pigalle Club and wowed the crowds at Camp Bestival and Bestival. In 2008 Time For Tease entertained Queen’s Roger Taylor at an Alice in Wonderland themed party in the Café Royal’s prestigious Grill Room. They also provided Kate Moss with glam rock themed cupcakes and a burlesque fan dance at her 34th birthday party.

Chai Wallahs is an ethical and unique venue that seeks to provide an alternative, enlightening, sensually indulgent experience and a platform for fresh creative expression.

The Stage
Chai Wallahs hosts performances from a selection of the UK’s finest underground talent and established artists, and provides a culturally diverse production that covers a huge spectrum of musical styles.

Over the course of a festival between 35 to 40 acts will perform on the stage. Morning slots are usually filled with Jazz and World music. Lunch time & afternoon slots with folk, acoustic soul & blues, whilst the early evening will be a mixture of Hip Hop, Funk, Afrobeat, Ska, Reggae, Dub and Electronica.

From 9pm the tempo, vibe and energy continually build until around midnight when our resident DJs take over and the party truly begins.

DJ’s – The Diplomats of Sound
With over 30 years of experience between them, more than 20,000 tunes in their collection, a dedicated passion for fulfilling the crowds musical desires, and a reputation for never failing to get the party rocking. The ‘Diplomats of Sound’ provide a phat mix of Eclectic Beats and Party Vibes, ranging from 60’s rare grooves to present day electronica.

Aroma DJs
Uplifting the crowd using the art of scent and a vast selection of natures most powerful natural gums, herbs, resins and oils, our ‘Crazy Shaman’ team blend the scents to fit the musical vibes.

Bar & Café
The Chai Wallah menu has been designed with quality, value, and health in mind, and uses ethically and organically sourced produce/products whenever possible. The menu offers a wide and diverse selection of Organic Smoothies, Juices, cocktails, Hot Alcoholic Beverages, Healing Teas, Turkish Coffee, Freshly Brewed Chai and a range of delicious Wholesome Meals & Healthy Snacks. All contain elements of unadulterated natural goodness, and have been designed to provide a natural high and feelings of well-being.

Herbal Shot Bar
Our Herbal Shots are supplied by the ‘Crazy Shaman’ and provide a healthy alternative to the chemical highs that leave you feeling exhausted, depleted, imbalanced, hung over and miserable. They also offer a fast and effective way to recover from those banging festy nights.

Crazy Shaman’s Herbal Emporium
The Crazy Shaman emporium offers a range of ethically traded Healing Herbs, Superfoods, Arts, Crafts, Hand blended Natural Incense and Body Care Products for health, healing and sensory pleasure. Sourced from some of the most remote and untouched corners of the earth, crazy’s range of pure, raw, unprocessed natural foods & herbs are some of the most nutrient dense and stimulating foods on earth.

Shisha (Smokin) Lounge
This designated , covered, but open sided smoking area, allows festival goers to sit back, relax and enjoy a Hookah with their cuppa, without the fear of being turfed out into the rain. The low level sofas, coffee tables and perfectly balanced surround sound create this much missed and needed space for the smoking social.

What is a Silent Disco?

A Silent Disco is currently the most popular event hosted by SilentArena. A Silent Disco can take place virtually anywhere, in a bar, nightclub, festival, field, hall, theatre… the list goes on. For those not wearing our headphones, no sound can be heard meaning an event can be held with minimal disturbance to neighbouring people and business’.

Is a Silent Disco totally silent?

Yes and No! The equipment will produce no sound that anyone else can hear, but if you play an anthem like Wonderwall by Oasis for example, try convincing 1000s of people not to sing along! It’s this experience that really makes Silent Disco a unique and thrilling experience.

Talkaoke is the the live, people-led talk-show where the host sits in in the middle of the media-rich ‘UFO of chat’, wielding the microphone and facilitating a dynamic conversation between people who gather around the Talkaoke table.

The conversation is projected live from the Talkaoke table’s broadcast system into whatever environment it lands in, mixing live, people-led conversation with the television-style excitement of a media spectacle.

About us

MALINKEYS is a family run business based in Somerset. We cater for all types of outdoor events including music festivals, private parties, Green Room & VIP areas.

Originally a Bedford TK horse box, Malinkeys has been expertly converted into a charabanc, consisting of a fully equipped kitchen, a small cocktail bar and covered seating capacity for 80, downstairs and upstairs (which has the most fabulous views).

Our events so far have been designed around the 1920′s theme to add a bit of theatre and fun. However one of our unique selling points, is that our fully fitted kitchen and trained staff can provide themed events and varied menus to suit your requirements.

Currently our menu has been light fun food downstairs – fish finger sandwiches, Tiffin, knickerbockers glories, coke floats, ginger beer and jelly & ice cream and upstairs has been silver service 3 course English dining experience.
