Live Nation Q1 revenue up 6.4% as net losses narrow

Live Nation saw revenues grow 6.4% in Q1 2013 while cutting its net losses by just under $6 million year-on-year. While revenues for the live giant stood at $923.7 million in the first quarter, the company’s net loss came in at $63.2 million compared to $69.2 million in the same period last year

Capital FM appoints new Managing Editor in series of senior promotions

In a series of management moves at Capital FM London, Robert D’Ovidio has been appointed managing editor while Mike Parker takes on the new role of deputy managing editor. D’Ovidio has been at Capital since 2009, most recently in the role of acting managing editor of the station.His new responsibilities will include the London network centre as well as Capital FM London. Mike Parker joined Global Radio in 2010, most recently in the role of Capital’s network producer

Official Charts Analysis: Daft Punk’s Get Lucky tops 300k sales

SINGLES Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger: Get Lucky got off to a brisk start for Daft Punk – but it continues to grow, adding a further 163,384 sales to its previous nine day haul of 205,632 to become their biggest selling single to date. One More Time – number two in 2000 -was the previous holder of the record, with sales to date of 302,915.  Topping the chart for the second time, Get Lucky actually increased sales by 5.26% last week, and becomes the first number one outside of December, X Factor and charity releases to sell in excess of 150,000 in consecutive weeks since Kylie Minogue’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head in September 2001. Get Lucky vaults 24-10 on the year-to-date rankings, which it seems sure to top before the end of the month

Interview: Sande’s thrill at beating The Beatles

Emeli Sande has told Music Week of her delight to beat The Beatles and achieve the longest Top 10 run with a debut album of all time. The Virgin Records artist last Sunday (April 28) claimed a record set by the Fab Four 49 years ago when Our Version Of Events spent its 63rd consecutive week inside the Official UK Top 10. That is one more week than The Beatles’ Please Please Me managed, giving it the longest uninterrupted Top 10 run for a debut album in history.

Official Charts Midweek Top 40s: Friday, May 3

Today’s Official Chart Midweek Sales Flash is in. Rudimental remain at the top of the albums chart with Home, followed by Michael Buble with To Be Loved. Meanwhile, Daft Punk continue to sit at the peak of the singles chart, ahead of Rudimental’s own Waiting All Night

Midweek Charts update: Nettwerk heading for first ever Top 10 album

The Nettwerk label is heading for its first ever UK Top 10 album and biggest single since 2000 thanks to Brighton singer-songwriter Passenger. The alias of Mike Rosenburg, the act has climbed 11-4 in the midweek singles chart with Let Her Go, while All the Lights has risen 25-10 on artist albums, according to the Official Charts Company. The first and only time previously Nettwerk made the Top 10 of the singles chart was back in 2000 with the Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan hit Silence, which reached No 3.

All Great Escape day tickets sold out

One, two and three-day festival tickets for the Great Escape festival 2013 have sold out. Organisers revealed that the tickets have been promptly snapped up for the event that will see over 16,000 attendees flock to Brighton across May 16-18 to attend the convention packed with industry speakers and see a range of live music performances from new and established artists. Performers include Klaxons, Everything Everything, King Krule, Chvurches, and David Rodigan MBE and Tribes

Music Week Presents: Empress

Deeper in Disguise is the new single from up-and-coming UK band Empress. The track, mastered in the US, serves as a taster of the band’s forthcoming yet-to-be-named debut album and is available now via iTunes, and all other digital stores. It preceded the band’s tour support slots with Bring Me The Horizon tha began on April 29.
