Live Nation sells Foxwoods Theatre to UK’s ATG

Live Nation has sold the Foxwoods Theatre in New York to Lyric Theatre, LLC, a subsidiary of Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG). The Foxwoods Theatre will become the 40th theatre in the ATG portfolio and the UK company’s first theatre in the United States. Ticketing for the Foxwoods Theatre will continue to be provided by Ticketmaster

Absolute sets out summer plans

Absolute Radio has unveiled a live content and marketing strategy for this summer, promising its listeners, “We’ll take you there”. The Absolute Radio Live strategy will comprise exclusive interviews, live music programming and competitions, including coverage of the June 14 to 16 Isle of Wight Festival where Absolute is the official broacast partner. As part of this its presenters Pete Donaldson and Sarah Champipn will front a series of outside broadcasts from the festival site over the weekend, while Paul Weller’s set on the Friday (June 14) and Ben Howard’s on the Saturday (June 15) will go out live and uninterrupted on air.

Live Nation expands presence in Asia, forms JV with Lushington

Official Charts Analysis: Rod Stewart breaks oldies record at he hits No.1

ALBUMS David Bowie did it at 66, Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand and Neil Diamond all did at the age of 67 but Rod Stewart becomes the oldest recording artist to have a number one album with new material, topping the chart for the eighth time in his career with Time, four months after his 68th birthday. Amazingly, it is Stewart’s first number one album since he was 34 – his first seven number one albums came in a rush between 1971 and 1979. The only male solo artists to have morenumber ones than Stewart are Elvis Presley (11), Robbie Williams (10), David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson (nine apiece)

BBC Proms tickets on secondary sites for up to five-times face value

Tickets for the BBC Proms concerts have landed up on secondary ticketing sites for up to five-times their face value. Taking place from July 12 to September 7 at the Royal Albert Hall, a record 114,000 tickets for the event sold a day after they went on sale on Saturday, May 11, a 17% rise on 2012. However, many of those tickets have now ended up on secondary re-selling sites for well over the original selling price, reports The Guardian .

Liverpool’s Echo Arena has welcomed its 3 millionth visitor in its 5 th birthday year. The landmark customer was Emma Haigh from Crosby Liverpool who was attending an Alicia Keys concert at the venue.

Average festival-goer now in their mid-30s – report

The average festival-goer is in their mid-30s, according to a new study by MSN which found 60 per cent of 18 to 24-year-olds don’t plan on going to a festival this year due to lack of funds. To attend a festival in the UK, music fans must now expect to pay £423.01 on average for tickets, transport, food and drink and camping equipment.

Midweek Charts: Rod sailing back to No 1

Rod Stewart is heading for his first chart-topping album in the UK since 1979 with brand new studio set Time. The Decca release, his first album of original songs in more than 20 years, currently has a 31% sales lead over nearest rival English Rain by Parlophone act Gabrielle Aplin, according to the Official Charts Company. Stewart last reached No 1 with an album back in December 1979 with Greatest Hits Vol I and it stayed there for five weeks until January 1980, while his last studio album to make it to the top was 1976′s A Night On The Town, which included the hits Tonight’s The Night (Gonna  Be Alright) and The First Cut Is The Depest.

EE named official tech and comms partner for Glastonbury 2013

Mobile network EE has been named as the official technology and communications partner of Glastonbury 2013. EE, the only 4G mobile network provider currently in the UK, takes over from sister brand Orange with Glasto returning this year after a fallow period in 2012. As part of its partnership, EE will install the first ever dedicated 4G network at a UK festival allowing users on site to access 4G speeds.
